Angry parents have spoken out and demanded answers after their son appeared at their doorstep with a stranger by his side.
3-year-old Miles Diffey from Wales, UK, was found roaming the streets all alone by a stranger just before 11 am on Friday. Seeing the distressed boy in soaking wet clothes, the passerby accompanied the boy to his home to ensure he got back to his parents safely.
After seeing little Miles appear at their doorstep, parents Georgia Wilcox and William Diffey, who revealed that their son should have been at his school until 11.50 am, were left stunned.
Following the initial shock, the furious parents lashed out at Trealaw Primary School in Rhondda and demanded answers as to why they allowed their son to leave all alone when he should have been at his school under supervision.
Georgia and William also insisted that the school refused to show the CCTV footage when they asked to see it to find out how their son managed to leave the building without being seen by any of the staff.
“He was soaked through his nappy was full and it seems he had been out walking for a while,” Georgia said.
“We were initially told Miles got out through a fence, then he left through the main gate and left the school at 10.35 am which they saw on the camera but we now know he was seen at 10.30 am out of the school so none of it makes sense. I just want answers.”
Following the incident, Miles’ parents decided not to send their young boy back to the same school. The local council has since also launched an investigation into the matter.
“The safeguarding of pupils is of paramount importance and a full investigation into this serious incident is already underway,” a spokesperson for the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council confirmed.
“Council Officers and Social Services staff will work meticulously to understand how this incident occurred and where issues are identified immediately put in place measures to prevent this from happening again, and address any additional concerns that are identified as a result of the investigation.
“We fully share the concerns of parents and guardians of pupils, and they will shortly be receiving a letter regarding the incident.”
