My mom would always tell me that she was tired of telling me to clean my room.
Sometimes, she would ground me so that I would be in my room cleaning up. Other times, she would give me something as a prize if I did not leave a mess in my room.
Well, one mother in Indiana was done telling her kids to clean their rooms.
Meet Alice Velasquez, who came up with a nonconventional way of teaching her teen daughters to clean after themselves.
At first, she was similar to other moms. Velasquez would simply tell them to clean their rooms, and repeat the message again and again.
However, her daughters never listened. Eventually, the mess would pile up, and Velasquez would end up cleaning their rooms herself.

One day, Velasquez decided not to do this anymore. She was going to teach her daughters a lesson that they would never forget.
She went into their rooms and put all of their things in trash bags.point 178 | All of them.point 188 |
Since she put in literally everything the way she found it, things like candy wrappers and socks would all end up in one bag.point 290 |

After putting everything in trash, Velasquez told her daughters that they would have to pay $25 per bag in order to get it back.point 236 | 1
And, the only way they could earn that $25 was by doing chores. No outside money was allowed.
Not surprisingly, when Velasquez shared her story on Facebook, it went viral.
While many parents thought that this was an ingenious plan, some accused her of abuse.
And when Velasquez appeared on The Doctors, the professionals shared their thoughts on her method. They praised her, and thought that it was a creative way to teach her kids responsibility.
Was it too drastic? Or was it clever?
