Pleading no contest to the two charges, the woman received two 7-year suspended jail sentences and lost custody of her children.

Following the incident, Mary’s young son and daughter have put on feeding tubes until they fully recovered. The doctors also treated them for parasitic pinworms which they contracted after eating dog feces.

Both siblings were not “being provided enough calories,” resulting in “protein-calorie malnutrition” according to the doctors.

According to the reports, Moore’s youngest child weighed just 18 pounds at the time they were hospitalized. The 5-year-old, on the other hand, weighed only 26 pounds.

As the authorities confirmed, the mother has a history of child neglect and this wasn’t the first time they raised concerns over the well-being of her children.

The 34-year-old received the suspended jail sentence after agreeing to the plea deal offered to her by the prosecutors at the Delaware County District Court.

Despite entering the plea, however, her defense attorney Ken Gallon insisted she didn’t admit doing anything wrong.

After the news went viral, people suggested that the judge was too merciful when handing over a suspended jail sentence.

As the community suggested, the woman should be imprisoned for maintaining her innocence despite the fact that she was maltreating her children.
