According to Bill Pascrell, the representative of the New Jersey’s 9th district, 126 GOPs who joined Trump’s bid to overturn the election results by supporting the failed Texas lawsuit against four battleground states should be banned from the House for allegedly violating the 14th Amendment.

The Texas lawsuit against the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan, sought to have millions of votes nullified based on unfounded accusations of election fraud. The case was rejected by the Supreme Court on Friday.

Now, Pascrell is attempting to convince House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to refuse House seats to all Republican members who supported the lawsuit due to their alleged violation of the 14th Amendment.

“The text of the 14th Amendment expressly forbids Members of Congress from engaging in rebellion against the United States.

“Trying to overturn a democratic election and install a dictator seems a pretty clear example of that,” Pascrell wrote in a tweet.

He later added: “Today I’m calling on House leaders to refuse to seat any Members trying to overturn the election and make Donald Trump an unelected dictator.”

In one of his tweets, the New Jersey lawmaker also attached the text from Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution to back up his call for the ban.

“No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” Section 3 of the 14th Amendment reads.point 497 | 1

In a direct request to Nancy Pelosi, Pascrell urged the House Speaker to “exercise the power” of her office to refuse seats to GOPs who attempted to “make Donald Trump an unelected dictator.”

“I call on you to exercise the power of your offices to evaluate steps you can take to address these constitutional violations this Congress and, if possible, refuse to seat in the 117th Congress any Members-elect seeking to make Donald Trump an unelected dictator,” Pascrell said.

“Men and women who would act to tear the United States government apart cannot serve as Members of the Congress.

“These lawsuits seeking to obliterate public confidence in our democratic system by invalidating the clear results of the 2020 presidential election undoubtedly attack the text and spirit of the Constitution, which each Member swears to support and defend.”
