Only a mom knows how difficult it is to say goodbye to her child forever. And while we say that we can understand that pain, we truly never can, until we are unfortunate enough to go through it.
Ruth Scully of Leonardtown, Maryland shared a heartbreaking story of her son passing away due to Cancer.
Rhabdomyosarcoma, RMS is an aggressive kind of cancer that becomes dead set against any type of treatment after spreading in the body like a wildfire. And the four-year-old Nolan had to go through this phase. Ruth wanted to share this story of her brave son who was crippled with every passing stage, just as a beautiful flower does and eventually dies.
She shared a photo in which Nolan was sleeping on the Bathroom shower mat because he didn’t want to leave her side even while she was taking a shower. Ruth says that now she is terrified of bathing, of not having her son waiting for her.
In the post, she describes her pain with the heartbreaking words, “agony unlike any other.”
All this started in September 2015 when Nolan complained that he was having difficulty while breathing. Naturally, his parents thought that it might be just a little cold. Slowly, it was becoming even more difficult for him to breath. They tried many treatments for this supposed cold, but nothing seemed to help. Then in November, doctors found out that it wasn’t just a little cold, but a tumor in the nasal passage.
He bravely fought for 15 months, when Nolan went to the hospital for the last time; he had not eaten anything in many days as he was constantly vomiting. It was the first day of February and Nolan’s doctor’s entire team was there. The Oncologist told them then that the tumors were compressing his heart and bronchial tubes and still it was spreading. The cancer was no more treatable.
Ruth then told Nolan that he does not have to struggle any longer. She said that the only way he can be safe now is if he is in heaven. To this, Nolan innocently replied that he would wait for her in the heaven.
He passed away on February 4.
