A woman who was live-streaming rising floodwaters in Tennessee tragically died shortly after sharing the video.
Linda Almond and her son Tommy managed to get to the roof of their home in Waverly when it suddenly collapsed.
They were swept away by the flood that took the lives of at least 22 people. Tommy was found and taken to safety by authorities but Almond did not survive.
The woman’s one-minute video includes her heartbreaking final words: “This is really scary. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness.”
Almond went live on Facebook before 10:15 am on Saturday to show her friends the rising floods in her area.
“Well, if anybody’s seeing me on Facebook Live, we’re being flooded right now in Waverly, Tennessee. Really scary,” she said.
The video shows brown waters carrying woods and other debris past her home.
Tommy can be heard saying in the video: “I think something just hit the side of the house.”
The mother then spoke her final words before she stopped the livestream.
The grieving family told WKRN that Tommy and Almond managed to go to the roof as the rushing floodwaters rose.
However, the roof suddenly collapsed and the two were swept away by the water. Authorities rescued Tommy but Almond remained missing for many hours.
The heartbroken family took to Facebook to confirm that Almond’s body had been recovered and authorities said that she had died in the water.
Among the dead were 7-month-old twins Rileigh and Ryan Rigney, who were ripped away from their father’s arms when strong mudded waters swept through their apartment complex.
“I had the twins in my arms, Brayla at my hip and Maleah around my neck. The water, when it hit us just pulled us under, all of us trapped underneath a bed,” the father said.
The twins’ bodies were recovered by rescue workers after the flood had receded.
