Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott have been blasted by fellow parents after shutting down rides at a Houston zoo so that they could ride it privately.
On Sunday, the couple brought their three-year-old daughter Stormi Webster to the Houston Zoo. However, during the family’s visit, the zoo took certain “safety” measures, such as closing the carousel twice during Stormi’s rides.
While the family enjoyed their time on their outing, other families who attended the zoo on the same day claimed they were inconvenienced by the celebrity family.
Kylie and Travis were given VIP treatment that includes cutting lines and shutting down a carousel so they could ride it privately, which upset other guests.
Crystal Stemberger, who was at the zoo with her daughter Cadence, 3, during Kylie’s visit, said the celebrity family kicked everyone off the carousel so they could ride it.
“We’re going to the carousel because it’s her (daughter) favorite thing to do,” Crystal told KPRC 2 Houston. “She does it every time we’re there.”
“We scanned her ticket, she got in line maybe two people in or three people about to get on the carousel and then they (Kylie and Travis) cleared the entire place out.”
Then Crystal said that the carousel line was cleared out a second time.
“Twelve kids were in line the first time, maybe 14 the second time, because it had just reopened,” she said. “They weren’t as important as this family? That doesn’t make sense to me.”
The furious mom also shared her complaints on Twitter.
“@KylieJenner Just a sad FYI, but your security cleared out the carousel line at the Houston Zoo twice today after people paid,” Crystal tweeted. ” At Noon and again at 12:40 pm. Our 3-year-old was in line BOTH times. We had to leave for her nap time so no carousel for her today.”
“Yep, they kicked my 3-year-old out of the carousel line after scanning her ticket TWICE today,” she said in a separate tweet. “Had to go home for nap time with a disappointed toddler.”
The visit also provoked criticism from others on social media.
“Kylie Jenner going to the Houston Zoo and forcing kids and parents off of rides and out of lines so she can privately ride them is so … mean,” one person tweeted.
“You’re telling me Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott shut down the Houston zoo apparently twice yesterday for themselves even though everyone who was there has to pay???” a second one added. “I’d be getting a refund lmao.”
“Kylie and Travis at the Houston zoo,” a third one wrote. “I guess people can’t enjoy the zoo since they had to block it off over them to enjoy.”
The news is being discussed on Twitter, with some people asking if it is necessary or appropriate for celebrities to receive special treatment at public places like a zoo.
Sophie Ross, a write, labeled the incident “pathetic.”
“There are so many celebrities who literally just try to blend in and enjoy things without making a fuss (especially in the mask era),” Sophie tweeted. “Which is what makes Kylie and Travis shutting down rides and forcing ~regular~ children off of them so pathetic.”
After KPRC contacted the Houston Zoo, Jackie Wallace, a zoo spokeswoman released a statement on the matter.
“We closed off the carousel twice for 30 minutes each time today for special guests on a VIP tour,” Jackie explained. “While we never like to close any part of the Zoo, sometimes security measures must be taken for everyone’s safety.”
“VIP experiences are designed on a case-by-case basis,” she added.
Jackie said the area is typically cleared for the safety of everyone and apologized for any inconvenience to zoo visitors.
