Krispy Kreme Allowed A Student To Resell Their Doughnuts After Learning His Plight

Krispy Kreme has changed their decision of barring a young student, Jayson Gonzalez, from reselling their donuts after they learned the boy’s strenuous plight.

“We’re happy to say we’re helping Jayson restart his business & donate 500 dozen to him,” Krispy Kreme wrote in a tweet.

“He was asked to stop selling to protect everyone involved.

“He will work as an independent operator for us and together we’ll ensure delivery of our doughnuts to our fans in MN!”

Gonzalez, from Minnesota, took to Facebook to express how relieved he was by the company’s decision.

“I am pumped to announce that I will be able to continue the business soon, and have the support of Krispy Kreme,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

A few months back, Gonzalez started a small business venture which was based on selling and purchasing Krispy Kreme’s donuts.

Before the company hadn’t demanded him to stop the business, Gonzalez used to drive for four hours every weekend to reach Krispy Kreme just to purchase their donuts.

After that, he had to cover the long-distance again to get back to his home in Champlin, Iowa.

The hectic eight-hour-long drive was a weekly routine for Gonzalez. In each trip, the young entrepreneur used to chock-full his Ford Focus with 100 boxes of donuts, each containing 12-pieces.

According to local outlet St. Paul Pioneer Press, Gonzalez was selling one package of 12-donuts for $17-$20.

Each of his weekly tours cost him about $100, and the rest of the money which he earned as a profit was saved by him for his college education.

Gonzalez thought about doughnut trade because there was no Krispy Kreme store in Minnesota for the past 11 years.

Seeing that the boy was ready to bring eatables from a far-off place, people who loved donuts soon gathered around him to place their orders.

But Gonzalez fell into trouble after his small business venture was publicized by the press at the end of October.

Krispy Kreme’s Nebraska office contacted him and told him to abstain from selling their products as a business.

“Hi all! I bear some bad news. Unfortunately the run for this Saturday will not be taking place, as I have been told I have to shut down operations,” Gonzalez wrote on his Facebook page.

“I figured it would come eventually, but it arrived early with the surrounding articles. Life happens, and it could be a sign that something else it meant to be.

“Appreciate everyone’s love and support to make this happen, couldn’t have done it without you all.”

The hardworking fellow told the outlet that the company warned him to ‘cease’ his operations. Despite that he was purchasing at the company price, he was told that his business could prove a liability for them.

Just a few days after Gonzalez announced that he will no longer be serving donuts to the people, Krispy Kreme responded to the outlet, saying: “We have become aware of Jayson’s situation, which involves one of our well-intended locations, and are looking into this.

“We appreciate Jayson’s passion for Krispy Kreme and his entrepreneurial spirit as he pursues his education.”

The response made Gonzalez realize that he might be able to start his service again in the near future.

“Let’s hope for the best! Although if it works out in the end, not sure what I’ll do car wise as this page has grown even more,” he wrote in a post. “With the support on the page and the support on the Pioneer Press as well, there might be a slight chance of hope.

“Waiting to see if KK will get back to me, or anyone that has contacted them by next week though.

“I truly am thankful for the wonderful community that has been surrounding me. To see everyone come together is something special.”

Luckily, it all has ended well for the young entrepreneur, just like he expected.
