For the first time after he was completely ousted from Tinseltown, Kevin Spacey spoke out in an interview for a podcast. Speaking to the Bits & Pretzels podcast, Spacey said that the last 3 years have been a painful journey that allows him to understand his former colleagues suddenly without work.
In 2017, a number of males accused Spacey for inappropriate behaviors and sexual assault. He was completely erased by Hollywood. For instance, although the shooting had been complete, his role was recasted and reshot for All the Money in the World.
Spacey told the interviewers that it shouldn’t surprise anyone that his entire world was flipped upside down after the allegations surfaced in the fall of 2017. He said that everything from friendships to reputation he had built in the industry evaporated “in just a matter of hours”.
Although the actor has vehemently denied all the accusations, he has not given lengthy media interviews or expressed his thoughts other than the words of apology that he issued right as the issue was brought up.
The podcast asked Spacey to comment on the current pandemic and the various aftershocks that it is causing around the world. Stage, film and TV productions have all been stopped as they were deemed non-essential businesses.
Spacey said that he feels he can “relate to what it feels like to have your world suddenly stop”. He said that it is not often that he says he can empathize with the pains of others as he understands that everyone processes situations differently.
In a statement that could stir controversy, Spacey said that he understood the feelings of suddenly finding yourself with no work or worrying about losing your job from “a situation that you have absolutely no control over”.
