Kate Middleton, 39, looked dazzling in a new video message for nurses wearing a recycled Alexander McQueen dress paired with a $12,000 diamond necklace from Asprey, which is thought to have been a gift from Prince William on their 10th wedding anniversary this year, and Mappin & Webb “Empress” earrings.
The Duchess of Cambridge appeared completely elegant in the tailor-made peplum dress that was last worn in Warsaw in 2017.
The Duchess who will join Prince William in Scotland on the fourth day of his royal tour, filmed the video to honor the end of Nursing Now, her worldwide three-year campaign to improve the profile of nursing.
Kate has hailed the “huge sacrifices” made by nurses during the pandemic as she marked the end of a global three-year campaign for the nurses.
“When Nursing Now was launched in 2018, we had no way of knowing just how much the work, dedication, and infinite care of nurses would be tested, needed, and appreciated,” the duchess, who was a royal patron of the program said.
“Covid-19 has highlighted the vital role that nurses provide which we all rely on and it’s made all the more extraordinary when we consider the huge sacrifices and personal demands that have been placed on all of you by the pandemic.”
“It has been the hardest of years and my heartfelt thanks to you and your colleagues around the world for the incredible work you do every day.”
Kate has started Nursing Now in 2018 at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital.
Prior to this month, she also interviewed a Ugandan community midwife Harriet Nayiga for Nursing Times magazine as part of the work to improve the profile once again.
The completion of the campaign is being used to make an urgent call to government administrations to invest in nurses as the backbone of health systems.
Lord Nigel Crisp, Nursing Now founder, said that: “Health services around the world have responded magnificently to the pandemic, but we will not beat Covid-19, stop the next pandemic or tackle skyrocketing rates of diabetes or heart disease unless we help nurses to work at their full potential.”
“As the campaign comes to an end, I urge countries to invest in nurses, so they are supported, protected, motivated, and equipped to deliver safe care.” Said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO).
He also said that Nursing Now had developed a new generation of leaders in nurses.
Just last year, Kate celebrated the International Day of the Nurse along with Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, by video calling nurses in seven different Commonwealth countries to thank them for their hard work during the pandemic.
Over the last three years, more than 31,000 young professionals have signed up for Nursing Now’s Nightingale Challenge, 64 Nursing Now groups have reported increasing the investment in nursing and there has also been an increase of nurses in leadership positions, as Chief Nursing Officers and on boards, who were able to exercise greater influence in shaping policy and service delivery.
The release of the video for nurses was released when the Duchess arrived in Scotland to join Prince William on the second leg of his Scottish royal tour.
Kate was seen wearing an $85 Zara blazer and pleated midi skirt in the color of the Scottish flag for a visit to Turning Point Scotland, a social care charity in Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire.
The couple has learned that the organization provides for those who are facing homelessness, mental health issues, and substance abuse.
The official visit is a part to help persuade Scotland to resist the demands of nationalists for independence.
Prince William gave a personal speech in which he described Scotland as a “special place” for him, a place where his “happiest memories” and his “saddest” experiences occurred.
It was at Balmoral where he learned the death of his mother Diana, in 1997. And it was at St. Andrews where he met and fell in love with his wife, Kate Middleton.
William, 38, arrived in Scotland on Friday and will be joined by Kate on the remainder of his engagements on the week-long tour to win hearts and minds. The couple will return to London on Thursday.
