A kangaroo with her joey broke into a family’s house and stole Vegemite! The mother hopper also tried to get some salt and vinegar chips.
The house’s owner, Lisel Hussey, filmed the astonishing moment the mother kangaroo and her baby came into their house in Canberra. She said to The Today Show that the animal had no qualms about jumping around them to grab some food.
She told the Channel 9 program: “Totally thought I was seeing things, thought I was in a dream, especially when she had the baby with her.”
The kangaroo proceeded to get the Vegemite from the counter and knocked it down onto the floor.
Lisel said: “Tell you what, I wouldn’t want to play Snap against her.
“We were cautious because she is a wild animal but we eventually had to shoo her on out. She didn’t want to go.”
The family was hosting an exchange student from Germany and had to tell him that this is not a common thing in Australia. But Melchior Kasche said to the TV network that he was completely blown away by the interaction with Australian culture.
“It was absolutely amazing. I saw a kangaroo only two or three times before and I woke up at the weekend and there was a kangaroo in my bedroom and it was very soft and fluffy. It was amazing,” he expressed.
Animals breaking into houses are definitely not a regular thing and there’s no doubt Melchior will return home with an incredible story to share with his friends!
