A man with a great passion for plants has spent a small fortune to arm his home with over 1,400 flowers, cacti, vines, and succulents that he takes care of for hours every day.
While many find it hard to maintain just a few window plants in their homes at a time, 20-year-old Joe Bagley has filled his home with a wide variety of plants that he spends watering several hours per day.
“I love it every morning when I wake up and walk around, it’s lovely. There’s not a single room without plants in, and every room is chockablock,” the young man, who has spent over $4,000 on his hobby, expressed.
As Bagley explained, his collection of vegetation is ever-growing and he has no intention of stopping despite his grandma, who lives nearby, telling him he has too many plants already.
Sometimes, he allegedly even resorts to ‘smuggling’ his new additions to his home at night to avoid judgment.
“At one point there were plants blocking the door and only I knew how to get past without knocking them over. I’ve had to clear the doorways now and create a bit of a path so people can get around,” he added.
When it comes to the plants’ maintenance, Bagley has got a lot of work on his hands. Besides spending hours watering the plants daily, the young garden center worker also has to remove dust from them one by one.
Fortunately, the 20-year-old already appears to sense when plants require his attention.
“I have a sixth sense for knowing when something needs watering. I can just be walking past a plant and I know. I have even been known to wake up at 1am and think ‘hang on, one of my orchids needs watering,’” Bagley said.
As the man insisted, he feels great in the presence of his plants whereas he doesn’t “feel like a jungle boy anymore” when he is away from them.
