6-Year-Old Duo Raises Money For Yemen Crisis With Help From Angelina Jolie


In the year that 2020 has developed to be, good news that inspire hope and warmth has been few and far apart.

In one of those rare news of this year, two British children has succeed in raising a great sum of money for the Yemenis thanks to the help from actress Angelina Jolie.

Ayaan Moosa and Mikaeel Ishaa, both six years old, are best friends in school. After learning about the humanitarian crisis that is occurring in the Middle Eastern nation of Yemen, the two young friends decided to become business partners by selling lemonades.

As the two friends gathered some traction both on and offline, they received a massive and unexpected boon from across the Atlantic. Ayaan’s mother told CNN that the Hollywood star contacted them through her agent on August, the actual money being sent today.

The star of “Maleficent” also sent a letter, which the two friends read out loud in an Instagram video. In it, she thanked the ‘lemonaid’ boys for the great work that they are doing, and said it is a shame she couldn’t physically go and visit the stand.

The boys expressed their gratitude to the actress, adding that they will be more than happy to serve her a cool glass of lemonade when Jolie next visits London, where they are located at. Moosa’s mother praised Jolie, saying that it is unbelievable how a big name like Jolie is helping her kid.

Even those with a passing knowledge of Hollywood would not be surprised to hear of Jolie’s charity work and activism. As a special envoy to different UN organizations, Jolie had previously spoken out about the crisis that is happening in Yemen.

Since 2015, a brutal civil war instigated by religious conflicts have destroyed the nation of Yemen. The war continues to be prolonged as wealthier neighbors use Yemen as a battleground for proxy wars and major powers turning their heads away from the situation.

Moosa’s father told CNN that his son and his friend instantly became hooked to helping out their friends in Yemen. He said that his son was both shocked about the living conditions and determined to help in any way he can.
