The new Joker flick, which was premiered on Saturday at the Venice Film Festival received 8 minutes-long standing ovation.
This has never happened before for a supernatural movie but Joker won hearts before the movie even came out.
Joaquin Phoenix, the man who has put life in the lifeless character of Joker is said to be a massive hit already.
The critics are praising the movie and his acting with terrific compliments, even stating that he might get nominated for the Oscars for his role in the film.
A review in the Empire that was not so surprisingly rated with 5 stars said that the story is utterly beautiful, devastating, and bold.
Added in the review it even said that Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix did not just bring back Joker, the most outshining and iconic villain in the history of cinema but they have just remained the entire comic book film.
Todd Phillips while talking to the audience said that they have tried this new approach for the film and they have no idea what DC or Marvel would take it as but to him the approach is a great one.
He added that it was very hard for them to bring out the movie. First, it took a lot for convincing DC and the studio, but then he said that they kept on trying and pushing it because he believed it will be very special.
Along with Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz and Robert De Niro are also starring in the movie.
Phoenix has done a marvelous job at performing Joker but his role is being compared with Heath Ledger’s to which he said that he and his role has nothing to do with the past and with its incarnation that is no more the same. The new character he says feels different and is completely their invention.
