‘We’ve Kept Our End Of The Bargain!’ Johnny Depp Says He Is Being ‘Boycotted’ By Hollywood Due To His ‘Unpleasant And Messy’ Situation

Johnny Depp, 58, believes Hollywood is boycotting him because of the ‘unpleasant and messy situation’ he is in.

In an interview with The Sunday Times about his new movie ‘Minamata,’ the actor said: “We looked these people in the eyeballs and promised we would not be exploitative.

“That the film would be respectful. I believe that we’ve kept our end of the bargain, but those who came in later should also maintain theirs.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star continued: “Some films touch people. And this affects those in Minamata and people who experience similar things.

“And for anything… for Hollywood’s boycott of me? One man, one actor in an unpleasant and messy situation, over the last number of years?”

The U.S. remains the only territory yet to release his latest movie.

Director Andrew Lewis had previously accused MGM of ‘burying’ the new film due to the ongoing issues in the actor’s personal life.

Lewis said he believed the studio was worried that “the personal issues of an actor in the film could reflect negatively upon them.”

The director also said that MGM had a ‘moral obligation’ to release the flick, adding that the studio needs to explain “why you think an actor’s personal life is more important than their dead children.”

Depp was embroiled in a libel case against The Sun newspaper after an article called him a ‘wife beater’ while he was still in a relationship with actress Amber Heard.

Even though the Hollywood star lost his libel case, he promised to fight the ruling.

“The surreal judgement of the court in the UK will not change my fight to tell the truth and I confirm that I plan to appeal,” he posted on Instagram. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false.
