Joe Biden said he’s not afraid of being inaugurated at the Capitol just weeks after the deadly insurrection at the seat of the legislative branch of the US.
Slamming all rioters who “engaged in sedition and threatened people’s lives,” the incoming president insisted they should be arrested as he confirmed he is positive “that President Trump should not be in office.”
Moments after receiving his second dose of coronavirus vaccine, Biden opened up about his plans for handling the coronavirus crisis after he takes office.
“My number one priority is getting vaccine in people’s arms like we just did today as rapidly as we can. We are working on that program now,” the president-elect said.
“I will be meeting on zoom call with my team later this afternoon. And I put together which I will be announcing on Thursday laying out the plan, costs of how I want to proceed, cost of what we have to do to be able to get the entire COVID operation up and running.”
Speaking of the current Covid-19 death rate, Biden said that having to suffer three to four thousand deaths per day “is just wrong” while insisting that a lot can be done to change that.
During his speech, the Democrat also opened up about his fast-approaching inauguration as he claimed he’s not afraid of taking the oath at the Capitol despite recent violence that resulted in several deaths.
“I’m not afraid of taking the oath outside,” the president-elect said.
According to the reports, robust security measures are being implemented to ensure a safe transition of power on 20th January.
Among other measures, a 7-foot anti-climbing fence has been raised around the Capitol grounds. Meanwhile, the National Guard head confirmed that at least 10,000 troops will be ready to maintain order in Washington, DC by Saturday.
