The Joker actor Joaquin Phoenix has tied himself to a bridge as he joined animal rights activists and urged people to go vegan during the protest.
The 45-year-old Hollywood actor joined Animal Equality protestors as they took to the streets of London to encourage people to go vegan.
Later on, Mr. Phoenix was also seen tied to the Tower Bridge over which the activists have placed a large banner that read: “Factory farming is destroying our planet. Go vegan.”
Speaking of why he believes everyone should make a switch to a plant-based diet, the actor said:
“I think we have a personal responsibility to take action right now and one way that we can mitigate climate change is by adjusting our consumption and by going plant-based.
“I feel sometimes like it’s not being talked about enough. So I’m just encouraging people to learn more about eating plant-based and to make a difference to make whatever personal impact they can on the climate emergency.”
Mr. Phoenix has not only showed his support for the vegan lifestyle by tying himself to the British landmark but also by wielding placards depicting the impacts of animal agriculture on the planet.
He has also talked to the locals and was seen handing out leaflets related to the vegan diet.
Just hours after attending the protest, Phoenix has traded his hoodie for a tuxedo as he has taken to the stage of London’s Royal Albert Hall to attend the 73rd BAFTA.
“I feel very honored and privileged to be here tonight. BAFTAs have always been very supportive of my career and I’m deeply appreciative,” he said in his speech.
