A CNN analyst has been suspended for pleasuring himself during a Zoom call.
60-year-old Jeffrey Toobin masturbated while on a Zoom call with staffers from the New York magazine and New York public radio station WNYC as he thought that ‘no one could see’ him.
Toobin covered Simpson’s trial for the 1994 killings of his former wife and her friend for the New Yorker. He turned it into a bestselling book that was used to make The People vs. OJ Simpson FX short series in 2016.
OJ Simpson said in a video posted on Twitter: “Damn, Jeffrey Toobin! At least Pee-Wee Herman was in a X-rated movie theater! I’m just saying!”
In a statement to Vice, Toobin apologized and explained that he thought he had turned his camera off.
“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers,” he expressed.
“I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers.”
According to reports, the Zoom call was an ‘election simulation’ involving many big stars of the magazine, including Sue Halpern, Jane Mayer, Jelani Cobb, and Evan Osnos.
The two people who told Motherboard that they saw Toobin pleasuring himself said it happened after a break in the call.
A New Yorker spokesperson said the CNN analyst had been suspended and the incident is being investigated.
“Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” a CNN spokesperson also said.
