Two cameras had reportedly malfunctioned, which were put up outside convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s cell in New York.
He was awaiting trial in the sex trafficking case. The cameras have been sent for examination to the FBI.
According to reports, the cameras were sent to a site of major FBI crime lab, Quantico, Virginia, where forensic scientists and agents analyze evidence.
It was reported on Monday that minimum of one camera put up in hallway outside Jeffrey’s cell has unusable footage and that a camera in the area had captured usable footage.
Jeffrey’s lawyers Martin Weinberg and Reid Weingarten told the U.S. District Judge Richard Berman that they had doubts about the conclusion of New York City chief medical examiner that Jeffrey had killed himself, on Monday in Manhattan.
The medical examiner had reportedly settled on an autopsy report that Jeffrey had committed suicide.
A law enforcement source announced on Monday that the six-feet-tall convicted pedophile had apparently killed himself by strangling himself with a self-made noose.
It was reported earlier this month that Jeffrey was unresponsive when he was found in his cell in the Special Housing Unit of the Metropolitan Correctional Center at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Dr. Marc Siegel said a few days later that according to recent revelation, Jeffrey had several broken bones in his neck, which suggests that the death could be a homicide and not a suicide.
He told that Jeffrey’s hyoid bone along with other bones in his neck was found to be fractured, which made him suspicious about the suicide.
He added that he could only confirm after seeing attack signs on the body. He further told that if someone holds a person down to strangle them, the person would have bruises.
There are many mysteries regarding Jeffrey’s death: Why was he put off suicide watch days even after he was believed to attempt suicide, why was his cellmate transferred to other cell hours before his death, and why were the prison guards sleeping when he killed himself.
