Jeff Bezos may have entered into space and returned back with a smile, but there are plenty of Americans who aren’t amused by his comments post his adventure.
The billionaire was reported thanking Amazon employees as well as the customers for funding his extravagant spaceflight. But that was like a slap in the face of so many Americans who believe he should be thanking them because they feel Amazon does not pay any taxes and hence more credit should have gone to hardworking US citizens who pay their dues.
While he may be the world’s richest man, he certainly wasn’t popular after her remarks on Tuesday which were released as a means of subsidizing his famous Blue Origin flight into space.
Bezos and three other members spent about 11 minutes into space inside the newly launched ‘New Shepard’ space capsule that lifted off with a bang from a desert situated in Texas’s Van Horn County recently.
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards all my Amazon employees as every single Amazon customer out there today because it was you who paid for all of this. So, thank you from the bottom of my heart very much because it’s just so appreciated,” he went on to add.
Right after his return, there were plenty of critics waiting in line to roast him for the comments he made regarding his mega space journey which reportedly cost around $5.5 billion for an 11-minute space endeavor.
While some asked for a refund, others spoke about how Bezos failed to thank all the hardworking Americans of the country that pay their taxes, while tearing into the billionaire and accusing his organization of paying zero taxes.
“It certainly does not take a rocket scientist to realize that it is high time that billionaires pay their fair share of tax dues,” added Bay State’s lawmaker and the Assistant House Speaker named Katherine Clark.
