Jamie Lee Curtis has revealed that her youngest child has transitioned from male to female.
The Halloween star told AARP magazine that her youngest child, who was previously known as Thomas, is already planning to get married next year.
She said that she and her husband “have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby.’
During the interview, Curtis said that she has got rid of ‘old idea’ that gender is fixed and is now leaning into the idea that life is a ‘constant metamorphosis.’
She has previously shown her support for the LGBTQ community.
Last year, she signed on to star and direct a movie about GLAAD Media Institute alum Sara Cunningham, the founder of Free Mom Hugs, which celebrates the LGBTQIA+.
The actress also talked about Ruby’s upcoming wedding.
Curtis’ children are all private but Ruby allowed her mom to share pieces of personal information with AARP.
“She and her fiancé will get married next year at a wedding that I will officiate,” the actress said.
She did not say whether Ruby is tying the knot with a woman or a man but in 2019, the 25-year-old shared a photo with a girlfriend.
In a 2019 interview with Pride Source, Curtis said: “I don’t think it’s anybody’s business what people’s sexuality is, to be perfectly honest.”
But the actress still makes an exception if “you legislate anti-gay legislation but are gay. I fully accept outing those people for the hypocrisy.”
Curtis, the daughter of screen stars Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, said she grew up comfortable around gay people.
“(My mother’s) make-up artist was gay, the playwright that she did a play with was a great friend of our family who was gay.”
“You don’t have to have your own experience in order to feel compassion and the need for justice and equality,” she added.
“In the LGBTQ world, certainly I have friends and family, but I don’t have to have the direct experience in order to feel the compassion that I truly feel for acceptance and equality in all areas.”
