Marvel even had to put the working on Guardians of the Galaxy 3 on hold because of Gunn’s Tweets making fun of 9/11 attacks, pedophilia and rape.

According to a report by Deadline, Alan Horn, President of Walt Disney Studios, was requested to rehire him. Gunn was reinstated after he made a public apology for his offensive tweets.

Gunn has also criticized the Trump administration several times in the past, which turned a number of conservatives against him.

In July last year, Gunn defended himself in a tweet, saying: “Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo.

“As I have discussed publicly many times, as I’ve developed as a person, so has my work and my humor.

“It’s not to say I’m better, but I am very, very different than I was a few years ago; today I try to root my work in love and connection and less in anger.”

When Gunn’s Twitter scandal went viral, Alan Horn said at the time: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”
