Jake Paul, the controversial YouTube content creator, has once again stirred a massive online controversy.
A large party that he hosted in his California home last Saturday has been reported despite the state reimposing various measures to curb the spread of the virus.
While the party was hosted last Saturday, several videos from the party have been obtained and later reported by Fox 11, the local Fox News Channel in the Los Angeles region.
In the videos, a large crowd of guests can be seen mingling with each other without socially distancing themselves nor wearing any facial protections. While the exact number of partygoers have not yet been identified, the number seems to be around a few dozen people.
Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub expressed her anger and disappointment with the local news reporters. Paul resides in Calabasas. Weintraub said that a party like this actively and completely ignores the presence of a global pandemic and those suffering from its consequences.
The mayor said that not only does this large gathering show how far some are willing to go to show their obliviousness, but also why efforts in all levels of community are not showing the results despite a large portion of people adhering to protocol.
If one only saw footages from the video, he or she would not think that it was hosted as Covid-19 continues to rage on through the US. From people drinking and dancing together to others playing with dice, it seems like any regular party prior to the pandemic.
Weintraub emphasized that she was not the only one who was enraged by the video. Saying that she received multiple complaints over the party, she said that everyone who saw the video was as angry as she was over this thoughtless behavior.
This not the first controversy that the 23 year old YouTuber has found himself in. Back in June, he Paul was charged with filming the looting of a shopping mall in Arizona, refusing to follow directions from the police in the process.
Various measures that were imposed by the state of California to reopen the state have been reversed as the number of cases surged to previous heights in the recent weeks.
