Only a few days after HBO aired the ‘Leaving Neverland’ documentary, people struggle to decide what should become of Michael Jackson’s legacy.

Some wanted to let the public decide while others choose to blacklist the singer from the culture, removing him from the throne as the King of Pop.

“The Simpsons” executive James L. Brooks pulled a 1991 episode that featured Michael Jackson, saying he and the creators were of ‘one mind’ about the decision, according to Mashable.

Brooks told The Wall Street Journal: “This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain.”

The episode titled ‘Stark Raving Dad’ had Jackson provide the voice for a character named Leon Kompowsky. A song featured in the episode ‘Happy Birthday Lisa’ was written by the King of Pop.

Removing Jackson from the legacy of The Simpson will take some time as there are streaming services and DVDs but the process has already begun. Brooks admitted to feeling uncomfortable about the decision but said it was the right action.

“I’m against book burning of any kind. But this is our book, and we’re allowed to take out a chapter,” Brooks expressed.

The National Football Museum in Britain decided to remove Michael Jackson’s statue after the documentary was released.

“The museum in Manchester said the decision was part of ‘ongoing plans to better represent the stories we want to tell’ and the sculpture will be put into storage.”

The statue was placed outside Fullham’s soccer ground, Craven Cottage in 2011 as Jackson supported the club. A spokesperson said it will be placed into storage.
