Ivanka Trump, eldest daughter of former president Donald Trump, thinks that she is able to follow in her father’s footsteps, trying to run for president alongside other Republicans.
She used her social media platform, Twitter, to call the insurrectionists at Capitol Hill “patriots,” and that her future shows a “promising political career.”
Although she thinks that she can do well as the next president, she had vowed to skip the inauguration that former presidents attend in order to welcome in the next president. She did not want to attend because she is “doing whatever she can to save her reputation.” Her father, Donald Trump, comments that by attending the inauguration, it would damage her relationship with the MAGA followers, so she would be looking forward to a “non-MAGA” future.
Trump has served as her father’s unofficial advisor and believes that she would gain future supporters if she were to follow the traditions of welcoming the next president. She tried to separate herself from her father, demonstrating what she will do in the future if she decides to officially run.
Those who have supported Donald Trump had tried to overthrow the Capitol under his name, going through barriers and beating up Capitol Police officers with pipes. Former president Trump tells the rioters that they are “very special” and “loved,” and Ivanka Trump’s tweet of calling them “patriots” have now been deleted in order to try to execute damage control.
