Father Drove Odd Neighbor Kid Home, His Wife Called Delivering Bad News!

Every day in the United States, over eight people are killed and 1,161 injured in crashes that are reported to involve a distracted driver.

This is in spite of studies showing that when a child is present in the car, adults are more likely to put their phones down and keep their eyes on the road.

AT&T’s creepy yet powerful new ad, entitled “The Unseen,” is a highly persuasive new kind of PSA that takes a surprising twist to the plot.

Here, we meet a dad driving his daughter and her friends to the local pool. Meanwhile, his wife starts frantically calling him. He doesn’t answer with the kids in the car, but after he drops them off, he finally pulls over to answer the phone. She tells him that the gate at their house was left open, and that their dog is missing.

When he starts the car back up, Dad is surprised to see a little boy, who he doesn’t know, suddenly in the backseat of his car — like he appeared out of thin air.

Dad learns the boy lives up the street and is a friend of his daughter’s, so he offers to give him a ride home. The phone keeps ringing, and the boy asks the father if he’s going to answer it. Dad declines, saying he would never answer the phone while driving with a child in the car because that is terribly irresponsible.

But that’s when things take a shocking turn.

“It’s okay. I’m not here,” the boy says. By the time dad turns around, the boy is gone. He assumes he imagined the strange conversation, but then something shocking happens that no one will see coming.
