While Iran has promised revenge and threatened to attack the White House after putting out an $80 million bounty on President Trump’s head, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the U.S., one of their closest allies, “for acting swiftly, forcefully and decisively” in removing the terror chief.

As the PM said before boarding a plane, “just as Israel has the right of self-defense, the United States has exactly the same right.”

“Qassem Soleimani brought about the death of many American citizens and many other innocents in recent decades and at present. Soleimani initiated, planned and carried out many terrorist attacks throughout the Middle East and beyond,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

“President Trump is deserving of all esteem for taking determined, strong and quick action. I would like to reiterate—Israel fully stands alongside the US in the just struggle for security, peace and self-defense.”

Nevertheless, the PM appeared to have attempted to distance from the tensions at the security cabinet meeting during which he allegedly told his ministers that Israel shouldn’t be dragged into “an American event.”

“The assassination of Soleimani isn’t an Israeli event but an American event. We were not involved and should not be dragged into it,” the PM said according to Israeli media.

Following the airstrike on Soleimani, Israel officials have been on high-alert as angry Iranians vowed revenge, hoisted red flags of war, and started burning U.S. and Israeli flags on the streets.

Speaking out about the surprise airstrike was also Russian President Vladimir Putin who claimed the act could “seriously aggravate the situation in the region.”

The Russian President’s warning came amid the pleas of European countries and China for “restraint” and “stability.”

While Germany, France, and the UK were quick to call for peaceful handling of the situation, none of the aforementioned EU countries appeared to vilify the elimination of one of Iran’s most renowned military figures.

Defending the decision to eliminate the Iranian general was also President Trump who claimed the U.S. carried out the airstrike on Soleimani to “stop a war not start a war.”

“We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war,” the POTUS said.

“Soleimani was plotting imminent and sinister attacks on American diplomats and military personnel, but we caught him in the act and terminated him.

“Under my leadership America’s policy is unambiguous to terrorists who harm or intend to harm any American. We will find you. We will eliminate you. We will always protect our diplomats, service members, all Americans and our allies.”
