An Instagram influencer who has a large social media following was forced to spend 24 hours in a ‘hellish’ jail in Bangkok, Thailand, after immigration officers weren’t pleased with the status of her passport.
As 28-year-old Lacey Montgomery-Henderson from Glasgow, Scotland, explained to her fans, she was treated “like an animal” after the Thai authorities found out that two blank pages of her passport were missing.
According to the Instagram model, the pages were removed from the document after she spilled a drink over them. Despite the missing pages, Lacey claimed there were no problems about it when she traveled to other countries around the world including the USA.
At the Bangkok airport, however, the authorities were allegedly extremely upset by the missing pages and decided to arrest Lacey before taking her away to spend the night in a cockroach-infested cell.
“I feel responsible to make sure no one else ends up in a situation like that. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, they treat you like animals and it’s an experience I won’t forget quickly,” she wrote on Instagram.
As she explained, the immigration officers kept on telling her they couldn’t accept her passport with one woman telling her to “shut up and sit back down” when she tried to explain what happened.
After she was finally released from the overcrowded prison where she shared her cell with several other women, the beauty queen was taken back to her home by British Airways.
Following her return home, Lacey thanked not only the British Airways for taking her out of Thailand but also her loyal fans who tried to cheer her up with their messages.
