Several People Injured As Subway Train Derails After Man Sabotages The Track


Several people have suffered minor injuries as a subway train derailed after a homeless man sabotaged the track with the use of construction materials he had found at the station.

The incident happened in West Village, Manhattan, where an uptown A train reportedly derailed after coming “into contact with debris on the tracks at 14 St.”

According to the New York Daily News, the train derailed after a homeless man sabotaged the track by placing metal clamps on it. He allegedly found those items at a pile of construction materials located at the subway station on 14th Street.

As the train swerved off the track, the man behind the sabotage was seen laughing and celebrating before getting apprehended by the police. As of this writing, the authorities have yet to file charges against the suspect.

“We’re investigating an incident in which an uptown A train came into contact with debris on the tracks at 14 St,” the NYCT Subway announced on Twitter.

“This incident is severely impacting A, C, D, E and F train service, so your best travel alternatives are the numbered lines or the N/Q trains.”

According to the reports, three people sustained minor injuries and thirty were evacuated after the train derailed.

While one passenger got treated on the spot, another refused medical attention. One of the commuters was transported to Bellevue Hospital to receive further treatment.
