1-Year-Old Baby Drifted To Open Sea In Inflatable Ring After ‘Distracted’ Parents Forgot To Keep Watch

A baby was found adrift in the open sea after “distracted” parents forgot to keep an eye on her.

The bizarre incident took place in Kelibia, Tunisia, where a one-year-old child sitting in an inflatable ring drifted one mile off the shore after her parents failed to watch over her.

According to the local media, the parents of the little girl were “momentarily distracted” at the time of the incident and the baby was likely taken out to open sea by the strong wind.

Fortunately, the baby was not harmed during the incident and was rescued by lifeguards shortly after 5 in the afternoon on Saturday.

As seen in footage taken by the rescuers, the one-year-old was sitting in a large inflatable ring some one mile away from the shore at the time of the rescue.

In the video, a lifeguard is seen pulling the inflatable towards the jet ski before towing the ring back to the shore.

“Bravo and watch your children while swimming,” a social media user who shared the video of the rescue wrote on Facebook.

Following the incident, the authorities reportedly warned parents to be cautious and avoid taking risks especially when the weather gets moody.

Meanwhile, internet users were quick to pass judgment whereas many suggested that the parents were in the wrong for not keeping an eye on their child at all times.

While many people blasted the parents, some suggested the inflatable ring could be blown out to open sea in a matter of seconds if the wind was very strong.

Others also pointed out that things could turn much worse if the baby fell into the water while adrift.
