Police Warned If You See A ‘Child’ Sitting On The Road While Driving, Stay In The Car With Doors Locked

If you’ve seen enough horror movies, you know it’s best to keep your car locked down and keep driving no matter what, especially when driving alone in desolate roads in the middle of the night.

Apparently, a 33-year old woman doesn’t know this rule.

After getting enough distance between her and the perpetrators, she called the authorities. Immediately, the Sheriff sent in Carteret County deputies to check on the matter. She also reported them having used a child for distraction. The response was quick. In fact, it was so quick that the deputies reached the area with the child still unmoved from his position. They checked on him only to find out that it wasn’t a child but a decoy dressed in a child’s clothing.

“In situations like this, driving away is absolutely the right thing to do,” said Major Jason Wank. The authorities in the area reminded the public in these areas to always keep their doors locked while driving.

Apparently, for a long time, this has been a modus of carjackers. If she went out of his car to check on the fake child, she would have been easily falling prey to these scumbags. Lucky for her, these were later found to be amateurs. Otherwise, they would’ve easily waited for an open car door or window before they rushed in for the kill. But they didn’t, they moved in too early giving her enough time to react and get away.

Unfortunately for these dummy-child dummies, tips shortly led to their arrests. They were just minors of ages 10, 14, and 17 who explained to the police that it was supposed to be just a nasty prank. According to WNCT, the three juveniles hoped a driver would simply run over the dummy thinking they’ve hit a real person and freaked out. It is, however, doubtful why they started pulling on the car door handles.

Reports did not say if the three boys were charged with attempted assault or car-jacking, but prank or not they need to be punished it. Lesson learned, keep your car doors, and windows locked and never stop for a child, dummy-like or not, in a deserted road in the middle of the night but rather call 911 to have the cops proceed to the location immediately.
