46-year-old British actor Idris Elba has been named the Sexiest Man Alive of 2018 and made it to the cover page of the People Magazine.
While the actor faced tough competition, including the likes of Jason Momoa, Chris Pratt, and Michael B. Jordan, he won the title and couldn’t feel happier about it.
The announcement by the weekly publication was made as Elba appeared on the Tonight Show where he was greeted by Jimmy Fallon.
While not everyone is pleased with this decision, there is no doubt that Elba has plenty of female supporters who are thrilled by the news.
One of his biggest fans is his own mother who Elba couldn’t wait to inform about the news.
“My mom is going to be very, very proud,” Idris said during his satellite appearance on the talk show. At the time of the filming, he was staying in London.
Besides this pleasant news, Jimmy also revealed the cover of the magazine featuring Idris Elba, the Beast Of No Nation.
On the cover photo, Elba complemented his casual style by wearing blue jeans and a grey cardigan sweater over a white T-shirt.
“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?’” Idris wrote of his reaction in the accompanying People article. “Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise — an ego boost for sure.”
Sadly for many ladies, however, the actor will soon be off the free market, as he is about to tie a knot with his 29-year-old fiancée Sabrina Dhowre who escorted him to the May Royal Wedding.
Proud of Idris’ new title is also his children, 16-year-old Isan, and 4-year-old Winston. They are both from Elba’s previous relationships but remain close to their father. As he once said, being able to witness their births was “the biggest and best thing ever.”
The talented actor, who has also been considered as 007 James Bond, appears to be content with his life and has a valuable advice for all of us.
“Life isn’t about thinking about what you should have done,” Idris said. “I think everyone should adopt the philosophy that tomorrow is not promised so just go for it today, man. You might as well do it to your heart’s content.”
