A married couple from South Carolina were filmed assaulting an interracial couple while shouting insults at them.
37-year-old Krystal Kingkade and her husband 38-year-old John were arrested and charged on Wednesday over the brutal attack outside a Dollar Tree.
The pair have been charged with two counts of first-degree assault and battery.
Bron Cornett, 21, and his girlfriend, Elena Vawter, were rushed to a hospital after the incident.
Cornett remains in hospital with ligament and nerve damage to his leg while his girlfriend was left with a broken tooth.
The victims said that they were driving on Saturday night when the furious couple suddenly cut them off.
Cornett thought that the driver of the Mercedes just wanted to check for any damage to their cars. But after both vehicles parked at the side, John jumped out of his Mercedes C-Class and allegedly shouted the N-word at Cornett.
The attacker then kicked the couple’s car door.
Cornett then got out of the car to take a photo of the damage when John allegedly hit him to the ground.
“It was such a loud smack when my boyfriend hit the ground,” Vawter expressed. “The scream was so horrendous. I thought he had been shot.”
Vawter got out of the car to help Cornett but Krystal allegedly assaulted her. She also said that John punched her in the face.
A witness filmed the horrific attack.
Police also said that Kingkades stole the couple’s phones before they fled the scene.
People who saw the incident called 911 and handed over the attackers’ license plate details.
