A loving husband has surprised his wife on her birthday after the couple was forced to spend weeks apart following the lockdown of the nursing home where he was been staying.
Following the man’s hospitalization, 84-year-old Jerry Lindell ended up at Meeker Manor rehabilitation center where he remained longer than expected due to the pandemic sparking a lockdown.
As KARE, an NBC affiliate, reported, this was the first time the doting husband wasn’t able to see his wife of 63 years, Beverley, for weeks.
Fortunately, Mr. Lindell was able to make a getaway and surprise his wife on her 84th birthday with the help of his daughter, Loriee Barnes.
After checking out of the nursing home, the husband picked up a bouquet and returned to his home to greet Beverley a happy birthday in person.
Upon the emotional reunion, Beverley was visibly shaken by the surprise as her husband appeared in front of her with flowers in his hand.
While the wife was initially reluctant to give him a hug in fears she could compromise his health, Jerry stepped towards her and gave her a tight hug she couldn’t resist.
Speaking of the heartwarming moment, Beverley told KARE that she “couldn’t wait to grab” her husband whom she married when the pair was 18 years old.
“I just thought we weren’t supposed to hug. But I couldn’t wait to grab him, so we hugged each other, and I cried and cried and cried,” she said.
