A loving husband was caught on camera surprising his wife with a sweet sign outside the nursing home where she’s been quarantined after contracting coronavirus.
The touching moment occurred on the 67th anniversary of Bob and Nancy Shellard from the state of New York after nursing homes were instructed to stop all visits for a month in order to prevent the spreading of the killer bug.
While walls may have been between the pair for the first time ever, they didn’t stop Bob from paying Nancy a visit.
“I’ve loved your 67 years and still do. Happy anniversary,” the sign that the man was wielding outside the nursing home read.
Meanwhile, Nancy was sitting at the window of her room and looked down as her husband was waving to her and holding a pack of balloons.
As the senior woman later told the staff of the nursing home, her husband made her feel like a queen with his surprise visit.
“I wish I could be with her. It makes me feel bad because I want her down with me and I know she can’t,” Bob said in an interview with NBC.
“I wouldn’t want anybody else. I don’t think she could put up with anybody else besides me.”
As the couple’s daughter, Laura Mikolajczak, added, her parents have always been an inspiration to her and her siblings.
“So all four of us have really learned a lot from them and I can only hope that I have half as much as what they have shared over the years,” she admitted.
“They have always been an inspiration to us and I think just seeing every year go by that they still express it in some way on their anniversary. There’s just a sweetness to the two of them and what they share.”
