He was in a 90-day trial period where he had to be on call 24/7. But of course, as an expectant father, he also wanted to be on call 24/7 to give his wife support during the delivery of their little one. Once the 90-day trial period is over, the company would let him know whether he would continue working with them or not.

This hardworking husband knew that dependability was the most valued trait with this new position, so he had to make sure not to miss any shifts. He even picked extra shifts and covered for others.

When Austin was assigned to work on Friday and Saturday before the new year, his wife Lindsay went into labor. Although dependability is an important trait when it comes to career, dependability as a father and husband is more important for him.

While he was in the hospital with his wife, Austin informed his boss that he wouldn’t be able to work his shifts. One hour after the New Year’s Eve, he received a text message saying, “As of now, you are terminated.”

Austin was able to witness the birth of his son, one of the most incredible moments in their lives. The couple welcomed their precious baby, Cainan, at 7:44 am on January 1. Still, the news of being fired from work came with financial worries.

It was hard, but if I have to choose between work and family, I’m always going to pick my family,” Austin explained.

With outstanding public support, Austin has received numerous job offers, including an apprenticeship offer with a local business.

Someone also created a GoFundMe page for those who want to donate to their family. Even though Austin lost his job, he can see a bright future ahead of him as a father and husband.
