A husband shot and killed his wife before taking his own life in an upsetting murder-suicide case that left two young children without their parents.
The incident took place in Lima, Ohio, where 29-year-old Zachary Starr fatally shot his 27-year-old wife, Mikki, at the young mother’s home.
According to the reports, it is believed that the father of a 7-year-old son and 18-month-old daughter turned his gun on himself after fatally wounding his wife.
“We had information from family members that there were some social media messages that gave us the indication that’s what we’re probably looking at right now,” the lead of the investigation, Detective Sergeant Jason Garlock, revealed.
Following the shooting at Mikki’s home, both bodies were sent for an autopsy at Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
The couple reportedly met in 2012, the same year Mikki graduated from Elida High School. In the following year, Zachary and Mikki had their first child.
Four years later, in 2017, the couple tied the knot following a stillborn child in 2016. After two years of marriage, they welcomed their first daughter into their family.
Starting in 2019, Mikki began working at Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center where she was an endoscopy technician.
The investigation is currently underway. As of this writing, it is not clear what had led the father to commit the grisly murder-suicide.
