A husband, who saved his wife from taking her own life, has been charged with assault.

Graham Page found a suicide note at his home left by his wife Alexandra. He found her intoxicated and ‘hysterical’ in her car.
He rescued his wife but was reported to the police by someone who witnessed the incident in the Redland area of Bristol in December.
When he was brought to Bristol Magistrates’ Court, he was charged with assault after he admitted that he pulled her from the car, cuffed her to the head and dragged her by her clothes to safety.
He said after the hearing: “I’m a little bit gutted. Obviously, it got way out of hand and it really was a minor thing. It was a difficult situation. I did what was necessary at the time and I wish it had been different. I don’t know if I’d do exactly the same. I like to know I learn from my mistakes, to be honest.”
“I think it has been a bit harsh that I’ve got a criminal record for this.”
Mike Wynter, who was defending Page, told the court that his client got worried when he saw the suicide note at his home and when he found her in the car, he tried to save her.
He also said that Mrs. Page was uninjured.
He said: “A suicide note was left by her at her address. This clearly concerned my client when he saw her in the vehicle.”
However, Michael Collins, prosecuting, said that Page ‘cuffed’ her to the head and dragged her by her clothes to safety which is not justified.
Page has been charged with assault and has been given a 12-month community order including 100 hours of unpaid work.
He will also have to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
