Bodies have been found at the family home of a 64-year-old man four decades after he killed at least five women.
Billy Mansfield, who took the lives of four women in Florida and another woman from California in the late 1970s and early 1980s, is currently behind bars serving four life sentences.
In 1981, human remains of four victims were found in his home.
But last week, officers found new human remains and also illegal drugs after Mansfield’s brother Gary was arrested on drug charges.
During the arrest, Gary said to police that there were bodies ‘all over the home.’
Mansfield was a 25-year-old electrician when he kidnapped, tortured, and killed women. He reportedly told police that he buried the bodies nearby as he wanted to have them there.
Three of the remains have been identified as Elaine Louise Ziegler, 15, Sandra Jean Graham, 21, and Rene Abbey Saling.
The remains of two other bodies have never been identified.
Prosecutors alleged William Sr and Gary aided the serial killer after Saling’s death.
Mansfield’s son, Billy Mansfield III, said he believes there are ‘a lot more’ bodies to be discovered, adding: “Personally, I think there’s a lot. I just can’t see someone gonna stop at one. And if there’s four and five, you ain’t stopping at one, you ain’t stopping at four and five.”
The Hernando County Sheriff said in a statement: “On 10-27-20 just after 5 a.m., detectives with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit executed a Search Warrant at 3422 Roundup Lane in Spring Hill, the residence of Gary Mansfield.”
The statement added: “Detectives seized numerous illegal narcotics from the residence.
“Additionally, detectives located items on a nearby property that were deemed to be suspicious. These items are separate and apart from the narcotics investigation and have been sent for laboratory testing.”
At the time of Mansfield’s arrest, his father Mansfield Sr, was in jail over sex crime charges against children.
