A CARP fish with human-like features was recently filmed in the lake by the village which is located on the outskirts of Kunming, South China.
The footage that was captured shows a very hazy picture of a creature that is peeking out of the water with two black holes for eyes and a slit for a nose.
The video was taken by a local woman who is heard commenting how “the fish turned into a fairy”, leaving the viewers both awed and creeped out.
Since the footage has gone viral on Weibo (the aka China’s Twitter), there has been a flood of comments and reactions from people all over the country. Some are taking the entire thing in jest commenting “who dares to eat it?” on the post, while others are genuinely scared of the fish.
The other instances that were notable for causing a stir that is worth a mention are- a spotting in 2009, when 2 carps, 3-feet long caused quite a stir in the South Korean town of Chongju Town.
In 2010, another carp was captured by a 44-year old butcher from Essex, Brandon O’Sullivan who valued the fish at $40,000! These fishes are said to be a hybrid species, a crossbreed between the leather carp and common carp.
Later, in 2016, there was another spotting of a carp or a fish with human features that were captured in Wugang City in Hunan Province in China.
This time, the fish was actually caught by Qiu Xiaohua, a school teacher who claimed that it was the strangest thing he had witnessed in 20 years. And while initially, he’d planned to eat the fish, the unusual features encouraged him to actually keep it as a pet.
