Little Things

The best way to wake up your mind every morning may not be a cup of coffee or a well-balanced meal.

You probably shouldn’t skip these things, but have you ever considered incorporating puzzles into your morning routine?

I’ve heard of alarm clocks that make you solve math problems before you’re allowed to snooze or turn the sound off. But I never thought to try other types of brain games like crossword puzzles or hidden image searches.

The following picture looks like a simple drawing of a landscape featuring a family of tigers: two adults and two children. It’s actually a painting created by Steve Read and it’s meant to throw you off.

You probably notice the colorful birds perched in the trees and a few sprinkles of bright flowers. You can also see a sunset hanging low in the sky illuminating a lush and green landscape. There’s a dirt path behind the family of tigers and the tigers themselves are sitting up on a few stones.

Zoom in on the trees themselves, the texture of the bark and the leaves. Do you see anything yet?

Try looking around the dirt path behind the tigers. Do you see any faces pop out?

If you haven’t found anything extraordinary about this painting yet, direct your eyes to the large tiger on the right. Next to its leg is a bright yellow and black bird. If you scan directly upwards from the bird, you may notice a face gazing back at you.

That’s the trick of this picture.

The beauty of Read’s work is that he’s hidden several independent pictures into one cohesive one. The images are woven together to trick you into believing you’re only looking at one. It’s similar to a photo mosaic where hundreds of small pictures are used to create one large image.

Altogether, there are 16 different tigers in this picture. Check out the photo below that has the animals circled.
