Heidi Van Tassel was left traumatized as a homeless man rushed towards her car and dumped a bucket full of feces on her head.
Ms. Van Tessel came out after having Thai meal at a restaurant in Los Angeles, near the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was just getting into her car.
A homeless man, who has been identified as Jere Blessings, came running towards her, pulled her out of the car, and poured a bucket of hot diarrhea on her.
She was immediately taken to the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital to be tested for contagious diseases. She was completely shaken from the incident and said that she now suffers from PTSD.
Ms. Van Tessel mentioned that the paramedics who rushed to her aid said that there were enough feces all over her that it seemed as if the man was saving it up for over a month.
He went on pouring it over her and it splattered all around and even got inside her car. She got soaked in feces and it even got into her eyes after dripping from her eyelashes. The experience was too traumatic and disgusting for her to ever get over the shock.
Jere Blessings, the attacker, has been charged with battery. It came to light that he was in a residential facility for mental health disorders for two months. He was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia and psychotic disorders.
He was released in August, and as Ms. Van Tessel said, it’s highly worrying that such a man is out on the streets. She feels what Blessings needs is not jail time, but mental health treatment. She said he might have stabbed her if he had a knife.
Reports from NBC 4 suggested that crimes by homeless people are increasing, and in just 2019, over 9,846 crimes were reported compared to last year.
