We have seen so many cats and dogs roaming around here and there, but in Frankfurt, the German district of Fechenheim, people see the different outdoor pet, an Arabian mare named Jenny.
The super active white horse walks freely through the streets every morning, on the same route, without any guide or owner with her. For unknown walkers, she carries a card that says, “My name is Jenny, not a runaway, but just taking a walk. Thanks.”
People seeing Jenny for the past 14 years because of her owner, 79-year-old Werner Weischedel, now unable to ride her. Every morning her owner opens his gates and she walks alone as she knows the route, where they used to go before.
Jenny was a part of a “caravan.” before, Weischedel told FNP, “We used to have a second mare, Charlie, and a second white shepherd. There we went as a white caravan through Fechenheim. Almost 15 years.”
Jenny takes 8 rounds a day before returning home for the afternoons for lunch, just like clockwork. Maybe that’s because, according to her owner, she has a “clock in her stomach” and “knows exactly when there is food at home.”
The locals enjoy seeing Jenny and nobody disturbs when Jenny walks on the path, police spokesperson Isabell Neumann told the DPA German news agency that she poses no danger. Weischedel works with the police to ensure that both Jenny and the other citizens are safe, he told “Maintower”.
Jenny has a lot of friends and guardians everywhere, because people love her, even at the tram station. The driver has become familiar with her, he waits for her visits. But, some people on social media have criticized Jenny’s freedom, said it is not safe for her as well as for other’s people too, who are walking on the roads and streets.
But, her veterinarian Maren Hellige said that there is no danger to anyone from mare because she is very relaxed and satisfied, and no such incidents happened in the past 14 years.
