The video shows a horse tied to his post, standing, with his head equal to the railing while a cat rubs her face with the horse’s and plays with him as though they are childhood buddies.
The video is oddly satisfying and intriguing at the same time. It is actually hard to believe that a horse and a cat can be friends but this video shows they actually can.
We know horses and cats are poles apart, in size, shape, and even their foods – but still, they can be friends.
A horse is at several times the size of a cat and is a totally different creature.
Logically, a cat is supposed to be intimidated by a horse but the kitty we are looking at here is a very brave one. She extends a hand of friendship to the horse and the horse replies with a calm gesture, trying not to scare the cat away.
While you might expect the cat to meow at the horse with all her might at their first meeting, this cat looks to be different.
Similarly, the horse, programmed by nature to be an escape animal, is supposed to scan the cat as a predator and run away but this horse probably knows the little kitty can’t do him any harm so he stays calm and composed in response to all her actions.
The science of ethology is the horses’ equivalent of psychology in humans. Ethology covers subjects like behavior, fears, intelligence and social system of the horses.
This science gives us an insight into the ‘thinking’ of horses and enables us to predict their response to a certain stimulus.
Generally, horses are social animals who live and graze in herds.
They happen to be shy, generous and lazy by nature. They also have a sense of pride and dignity that’s visible from their stature.
