Today people are addicted to social media, and there is no doubt that it can solve our many problems in minutes.

Recently, 16-year-old Charlotte Howard shared a note on Facebook which was handwritten by a homeless man.  The heartbreaking note, which was left by Anthony Johnson outside a bus stop, had a request for work that could change his life.

Anthony Johnson, 37, has offered to work for free in the hope it’ll “help change his life”.

He’s begged people to let him walk dogs, clean windows, do their shopping and housework.

And Anthony, who has been homeless for nine years, has been “overwhelmed” by the support he’s since received in Hastings, East Sussex in less than one week.

His handwritten note read: “Work wanted. I will do a trial for free to show how I work – I don’t take drugs or drink.

“I will also do dog walking/minding, window cleaning, shopping, gardening, car valeting, washing, housework, cooking – anything to earn a living and make life seem worth living. Help change a life.”

Charlotte Howard, 16, said the note “broke her heart” when she saw it by Anthony’s tent.

Fortunately, her plea worked, and soon, landscape gardener Nelson Smith offered Johnson a job.

Now Charlotte and her pals are now kitting out a caravan for the homeless man, a gesture which left him “really happy.”

She said:  “I saw his tent and his message next to it and it broke my heart.

“I think in this case I was more proactive to share it because of the last sentence – make my life worth living, help change a life.

“I wanted to share it – get attention for him as people don’t understand how hard it is to get work and how mental health really can affect people.

“We shouldn’t be so judgmental when we see a homeless person – sometimes all it takes is a smile.”

Charlotte, who was helped by close mate Toni Pearce, added: “A man gave us the caravan – he was going to sell it but saw my message and so said we can have it.

“He could not stop smiling when I told him about the caravan – he was really happy and a bit overwhelmed by it all.

“He said he was really surprised by my age too because normally young people are not nice to him.”

And now the kind teenager has spoken to charities in a bid to help Anthony further.

Juliet Kelly, who volunteers for charity Warming up the Homeless, is confident she has found a site suitable for the caravan.

The 48-year-old said: “I was aware of Anthony because I volunteer.

“It was difficult to find a site that could take his caravan all year round but I think I’ve found a lady who may be able to do it.

“We go out three nights a week and take them food and drink.

“I told him Anthony ‘you’re famous’ and he seems really happy and is dealing with it really well.”
