Kimberly Potter is said to have confused her handgun for a taser when she shot the 20-year-old father on Sunday.

A police source told Daily Mail that her home was barricaded as they anticipate demonstrations at her property.

Officials were forced to order a curfew for St. Paul, Brooklyn Center, Columbia Heights, Maple Grove, New Hope, Crystal, and Minneapolis, according to KSTP.

The shooting incident occurred only 10 miles from where George Floyd tragically died last May.

Protesters started gathering again at the heavily guarded police station on Tuesday as National Guard soldiers and police in riot gear try to maintain peace and order.

The unrest continues after the Hennepin County medical examiner ruled Wright’s death as a homicide.

Veteran police officer Potter will face charges after she and Police Chief Tim Gannon resigned from the force.

In her resignation letter, Potter, a mother of two, wrote: “I have loved every minute of being a police officer and serving this community to the best of my ability, but I believe it is in the best interest of the community, the department and my fellow officers if I resign immediately.”

Potter and her family reportedly left the property after her address was shared on social media.

Wright was shot on Sunday after he and his partner were pulled over by police during a traffic stop for what they say was an expired car registration.

Officers then discovered that he had an outstanding warrant against him but a struggle broke out when they attempted to take him into custody.

According to the New York Times, Potter was training less experienced officers in the Brooklyn Center Police Department when the shooting incident happened.
