A brave 11-year-old boy has been dubbed the real-life Home Alone after fighting off invaders who broke into his home and threatened him when he was all alone.

The incident occurred on June 14 when Braydon Smith from North Carolina witnessed a burglar breaking into his home before ordering him to go into the closet.

Good Morning America

“He pointed a pellet gun at me that was located in our house. I knew that it wasn’t loaded so I just sat down and got in my closet like he told me to,” the 11-year-old recalled in an interview with WTDV.

While the thief was plundering the house, Braydon couldn’t help but think what could have happened to him if the robber returned to the closet.

That’s when the little genius got a brilliant idea. He picked up the machete he had bought for gardening purposes with his own money and followed the thief into the kitchen.

“He found my phone on the counter and he took the phone, but he dropped it,” the boy added, speaking to WFMY, “and that’s when I picked up my machete and hit him on the back of the head.”

In retaliation to the heavy blow, the robber kicked the Little League star in the stomach. Braydon then swung his machete once again, scaring the thief off the premises. After running out of the house, the burglar took off with a car and two other suspects who were waiting for him in front.

“Hall was struck in the head by 11-year-old Braydon Smith with a machete while he was trying to steal electronics from the boy’s home in Mebane, deputies said.”

Following the thief’s arrest, Sheriff Charles Blackwood applauded the young man for taking action that resulted in not only protecting himself but also catching the criminal.

“Not only did this youngster thwart the larceny attempt, he created blood evidence that very well may lead to a conviction in this case,” the sheriff said according to WLOS.

“This is very tough kid who kept his wits about him. At the same time, I want to reflect that this youngster, his family and indeed this community, are very lucky this event did not have a tragic ending for the child.”
