Hollywood Legend Sidney Poitier Has Passed Away At The Age Of 94


Hollywood star Sidney Poitier has passed away at the age of 94 after decades of a successful career in acting.

The Bahamian-American actor has made history by becoming one of the first Black actors to dominate in the motion picture scene and being recognized in Hollywood and across the nation.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Poitier appeared in various classic films such as In the Heat of the Night, Lilies of the Field, The Defiant Ones, A Raisin in the Sun, To Sir, with Love, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and many more.

According to the reports, Poitier, who is the first Black Academy Award winner, died on Thursday at the age of 94.

Following the TV legend’s passing, numerous renowned Hollywood figures spoke out to pay a tribute to the man that set an example in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg quoted the lyrics from ‘To Sir, With Love’ in her tribute to the legendary actor. “If you wanted the sky I would write across the sky in letters that would soar a thousand feet high.. To Sir… with Love,” she wrote before adding: “He showed us how to reach for the stars.”

Paying a tribute to the successful actor were also President Joe Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
