Spanish Doctor Asked Twitter To Help Cheer Up A Covid-19 Patient – He Received 8400 Replies


All around the globe, healthcare workers are dedicating almost all of their available time on caring for the patients who have flooded the facilities.

One Spanish doctor thought that one of his patients needed more than just medical care, and decided to take additional measures for the patient.

Pedro, aged 79, had been feeling depressed and hopeless after he had tested positive for Covid-19 5 consecutive times.point 100 | Feeling that Pedro needed morale support, Teixidó asked his twitter followers to give Pedro words of encouragement.point 200 | 1

Teixido first explained the situation that Pedro is in, and said that it seemed like his patient was about to give up everything. With a fingers-crossed emoticon, the doctor asked twitter to show its magic.

Twitter replied to the doctors plea.point 194 | After first posting the message on Tuesday, it has since been retweeted 314,000 times with 8,400 people who gave words of encouragement to the struggling Pedro.point 329 |

Moreover, Teixido said that he has received 15,000 direct messages from people that he has never met before.point 91 | 1

From heartfelt words that encouraged Pedro to fight on to people who recorded them singing songs, Teixido said that he was grateful and amazed at the hospitality and compassion that everyone showed. He said he initially wanted 15 or so messages that he could show Pedro; he ended sharing the first 300 messages.

One user uploaded the photo of a double rainbow that she took in the fields of Catalan. Other Spanish speakers from neighboring Portugal to those in Latin America all sent their regards to Pedro. It became a small sensation on Spanish twitter, with the keyword ‘Hola Pedro’ being one of the most searched terms on the website.

The doctor said that the outpour of support has really helped Pedro get back up to his feet and fight. He also shared that Pedro’s granddaughter has volunteered to read to her grandfather the rest of the messages.

Unfortunately, the sixth test for Pedro still came back positive with Covid-19. However, Teixido said that Pedro’s conditions have dramatically improved since being hospitalized and receiving the messages. The doctor likened a morale boost like this to a strong medication.
