A toilet paper hoarder from Australia has been facing a backlash after attempting to resell nearly 400 rolls of toilet paper she hoarded amid the pandemic.
With lockdown orders in place, many people have resorted to hoarding essentials such as toilet paper. While some bought enough for their own needs, others purchased extra in order to resell the goods for inflated prices and profit in the process.
One such person is a mum from Brisbane, Australia, who revealed she’s selling a stash of 21 packs of toilet paper for $20 per package, double the price that the same Quilton packs are being sold for at Coles.
“Selling of excess toilet paper that I no longer need. All new sealed in packaging $20.00 a pack of 18 FIRM,” the woman wrote in her Facebook post.
“Located near Moryafield shops. Don’t attack me for making sure my family was prepared for the pandanemic.”
After the post went viral, people were quick to slam the mum and accuse her of being greedy and inconsiderate of other people’s needs.
“While she overstocked she left nothing for the poor elderly or the normal people who didn’t over stock, now she has realized what a f***ing idiot she was for stockpiling so she is trying to make a profit on it,” someone wrote.
“369 rolls seriously that’s not prepared that’s greed,” another one suggested.
As some people have also suggested, the woman likely won’t be able to sell the toilet paper for an inflated price due to most supermarkets being able to restock their shelves following the sudden surge in toilet paper sales.
